Featured Artist: Blane Morris
Hats Off to Blane Morris, the Passion Works Studio Featured Artist for the month of March! Blane’s art is wild, wonderful and unique. His themes often revolve around the unpredictability of nature, evidenced in weather patterns and catastrophic natural events. Lightning, twisters, thunderheads and volcanoes surface regularly in Blane’s paintings. These are an understandable focus for a man with such a commanding personality. Blane is a bright light in the Passion Works Studio as he contributes to the collaborative fine arts process. Stop in to view some of Blane Morris’s fine art and to delight in our new Fine Arts Gallery installation, “Big Ideas,” where images of Blane are featured. Congratulations, Blane Morris! Our 10th Annual Souper Bowl will take place from 4:30-6:30 on Sunday, March 7th at the Athens Community Center. Proceeds from this fun and delicious fundraiser benefit Passion Works Studio and Athens Area Mediation Service. Come out to enjoy soups, breads and deserts from Avalanche Pizza, Casa Nueva, Crumbs Bakery, Donkey Coffee & Espresso, Jana’s Soul Food, Mistretta’s Italian Market, Salaam, Zoe, The Farmacy, Purple ChopStix, Stephen’s, The Village Bakery, Toscano’s and the Oak Room! Ticket prices range from $20-$35 (you decide what you can afford to give) and include your choice of a hand-decorated ceramic bowl to take with you! Children under 12 can eat for $5 (bowl not included in child-ticket price). Tickets are available and can be purchased in advance at Passion Works, through the Athens Area Mediation Service by calling 594-6169, or at the event.
Featured Staff Member: Joyce Frank
Multi-talented Passion Works Studio Coordinator, Joyce Frank is our featured Passion Works staff member for the month of March and she so deserves the spotlight! Joyce has been wearing lots of hats for the Athens County Board of Developmental Disabilities over the past twenty-five years. She does it all, including grant writing, fielding questions about everything from Passion Works Home Parties to shipping issues, coordinating volunteers, acting as liaison between Atco production and fine art at the studio, juggling budgets, supporting staff, setting up shows and sales from The Big Apple to the State Capital. Her boundless energy is also evident in her home life where she is the go-to person for her two sons as well as her mom and dad who live with her. Between travels to her sons’ hockey matches, visits with her daughter and granddaughters and holding down the ever changing fort here at Passion Works, Joyce is a true inspiration. Thank you Joyce for your passion and dedication! You are one of a kind, in all the nicest ways.

Fine Art Gallery Show
Our “Big Ideas” Gallery Show will continue through the months of March and April. "Big Ideas" is a monumental installation of fine art created by Passion Works Artists in collaboration with Ohio Arts Council Visiting Artist Patty Mitchell and The Ohio University Aesthetic Technologies Lab. These works are big, bold and delightful. Come visit, view and discuss the art. Take a break from the winter doldrums to drop into Passion Works and feast your eyes on this unique and inspiring installation.
