Carolyn loves drawing flowers and flower people. Her flower petal designs were used to create the Passion Flower, which was named the Official Flower of Athens. Her designs can be seen in the floral sculpture within the fountain at the Athens Community Center and in jewelry pieces offered at the studio store. Carolyn contributed two eloquent comic strips featuring her flower people as the main characters in the New Skinny Monkey Magazine and her poem “I Remember You Mom” can be heard on the “My Little Pancake Button” CD.

This months Featured Fan is Robin Barnes. A DJ at Power 105, Robin became a fan of Passion Works Studio through utter coincidence. A fan of her station, David, would call and request songs frequently. “He was just a caller who liked Nelly a lot,” Robin said. Little did she know that David was actually David Dewy, Passion Works Artist. Without knowing it, David was the creator of one of her favorite designs—The Howling Wolf—which she often admired on the shelves stocked with Passion Works greeting cards at Nelsonville’s Busy Bobbins.

Passion Works Artists are enjoying seeing their images and characters come to life through the process of stop motion animation. Under the guidance of Ohio Arts Council Artist Melissa Godoy, Passion Works artists are experiencing the many steps of making a film, from creating the storyline to designing sets, filming and editing. The finished piece will be a music video featuring a “blended” song by Sarina Winner and David Dewey.

My Little Pancake Button CD is a collaborative effort between Passion Works Artists, creative writing students from Hocking College and local musicians who transformed the words into songs.
