Cake Auction Recap

The 1st Annual Passion Works Cake Fight and Auction was a huge success! With the support of The Market on StatePower 105Frontier Communications,O’Bleness Memorial HospitalAthens Inflatables and Kroger along with the participation of fifty local businesses and organizations, we had a fun filled day highlighted by the performance of the ATCO Vocal Choir kicking things off in the morning and the cake fight closing things out in the afternoon. Special thanks to our sponsors mentioned above as well as McGruff the Crime Dog and the Athens County Sheriffs Department.
The creativity inspired by the cake auction got the entire community making some very impressive art…special mentions in creativity were 1st place winner Sycamore Run Early Childhood Center, 3rd place went to the Rendville Art Works, 2nd place and the Peoples Choice Award both went to Kisers BBQ for their scrumptious looking rack of ribs cake. Other special creativity mentions were the Athens Country Club, Big Mama’s Burritos, Community Action, all Beacon School entries,Sweetie Sweets, Reclaim Studio, Purple Chopstix and Lamp Pestproof. The best smelling cake was a heavenly chocolate creation by O’Bleness.
This event would not have been possible without our sponsors, or participants and the promotional and volunteer efforts of Tau Beta Sigma and Delta Sigma Pi. Thanks to all the businesses, schools, non-profits and Ohio University groups that took part!
Oh what fun it was to pie (in order of appearance) Eric Young, Mayor Paul Weihl, his opponent Randy Morris, Butch Withem, Doug Mitchell and the colorful Chris Beister…talk about good sports!
The 2nd Annual Passion Works Cake Fight and Auction will be in the spring and then every spring thereafter. Our 1st was incredible, thanks to you! Get your wheels turning…a lot of people said they want to be part of our next one and one thing to remember is that if you want to be remembered you have to stand out. See you in the spring!
